Llanidloes councillors say they are being "continually ignored" by Powys County Council when it comes to alterations in the town.

It follows concerns that the town council was unaware that work was being carried out on a pavement in the Glandwr area.

Cllr Margot Jones told councillors: "The homeowner on that corner has my sympathy because this was news to us and to him.

Councillors said they were having lots of comments from residents about alterations by the county council.

Llanidloes Mayor Cllr Janet Crisp said: "It always puts us in a very bad light when we don't know what's going on in town."

Cllr Jones suggested contacting the council's chief executive to raise the issues.

She said: "The trouble is we are continually being ignored by Powys County Council and I am afraid that their need to consult with us has gone out of the window. But I am sure that is not true.

"I wonder whether there is an opportunity to speak to the Chief Executive with us, because if they are not communicating with community councils then are they treating other community councils the same as they are treating us?"

Clerk Sonia Pritchard told councillors that she had contacted head of highways, transport and recycling Adrian Jervis.

She said: "I told him that we were absolutely gobsmacked that we were not consulted at all. We had no idea that pavement was going in there and going to be that width with alterations to the road."T

The town council is in the process of organising a site visit.
