A TALENTED youngster from Ross-on-Wye Golf Club has been selected to play for the ladies’ county squad.

Rhian McGinley started playing golf at 11 years old in 2016 when she joined Tim Hall’s Junior Coaching Programme.

By the end of 2017, her handicap had dropped from 54 to 33 and in 2018 she won the Junior Championship aged 14.

McGinley was the Most Improved Player of the Year in the Ladies Section in 2018 and 2019 and had dropped her handicap to 13 by the end of 2019.

In 2020 aged 16, she won the Quaich Cup and further reduced her handicap to 11.

She ended the season with an outstanding achievement, winning the Ladies’ Club Championship. McGinley has played for the County Junior Squad for the past three years, but has now taken up her place, representing the club in the Ladies’ County Squad.
