THE Museum of Cardiff is set to reopen for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
The museum in The Hayes will reopen on Wednesday, September 1, with an exhibition in the ground floor gallery.
Entrance to the museum is free but visitor numbers will be limited to allow for social distancing.
Cllr Peter Bradbury, cabinet member for culture and leisure said: “Maybe at some point in the future the Museum of Cardiff will be telling the story of the last 18 months.
“But for now we’re pleased that we can welcome visitors back through the doors and start bringing the fascinating history of Cardiff to life again through the stories of the people and communities of our city.”
City Lab in the basement gallery and Tiled Corridor will stay closed for the time being.
Visitors to the museum will be asked to wear a face mask, use hand sanitiser, and maintain social distancing. There will be a one-way system throughout the building.
Visitors can also pick up stylus pens to use on touchscreens and interactive displays. These are cleaned after use and can be picked up on arrival.
The museum will be open from Wednesday to Saturday, between 10am and 4pm.
