THE situation is mixed at petrol stations in the Newport area this morning.

While some stations have seen queues and closed forecourts, others have seen motorists able to fill up as normal.

On the motorway, the service station at Magor on the M4 saw long queues for fuel stretching back out to the roundabout earlier today.

Both the car pumps and the HGV fuelling point were extremely busy as people tried to fill up on their way to work.

In Newport, Tesco in Spytty seemed like any other morning.

There were no queues or signs of what has happened over the past few days.

It was the same story at the Esso garage on Corporation Road.

What was yesterday afternoon a taped-off empty forecourt was now operating at what looked like normal levels.

However, in the city centre, the Shell garage on Chepstow Road in Maindee was - at time of writing - still closed to motorists.

Pumps were taped up and there was no petrol on offer.
