Bus drivers can make an easy getaway to Guernsey as the island looks to take on more staff.

As the tourists return to Guernsey’s beaches and bays recruitment is underway for the island’s bus company, CT Plus.

Nearer France than the UK this crown dependency is English speaking but has many road names in French.

The eight-by-five-mile island enjoys a slower pace of life, buses travel at 25mph, the speed limit of many of the roads.

CT Plus operations manager Kevin Jackman says Guernsey offers some of the best views and coast roads a driver could wish for:

“We are a small friendly team, there’s around 50 drivers covering 20 routes across the island.

“It’s been great building up new passengers this year and also seeing the tourists again. Bus travel is cheap in Guernsey, just one pound or even less if you use a travel pass.

“We find bus drivers like to put Guernsey on their list of places to visit and work as the pace of life is so different. The fresh local foods are also a bonus for those perhaps wanting a healthier lifestyle.”

CT Plus stands for Community Transport and the Guernsey company is part of the larger HCT Group that operates in the UK. The ethos is to provide for the community and enable independent travel. The Guernsey company mascot is a puffin, you will see this everywhere, including the buses, with tourists asking for a puffinpass as soon as they land at the airport or harbour.

Bus and coach drivers or those with a PCV/PSV licence who are interested in making the change to living in Guernsey are asked to call the HR department on: 01481 719238.
