THE Wye Valley has been named among the UK’s most popular beauty spot.

With more of us expecting to work from home following the pandemic, there has been a huge surge in people looking for homes in their dream locations – aiming to swap a city lifestyle for the country’s most beautiful spots.

England, Wales, and Northern Ireland boast 46 areas of natural beauty (AONB), with a further 40 national scenic areas (NSAs) in Scotland.

So which of the UK’s beauty spots are the most popular for home hunters?

Zoopla analysed the data and found the Cotswolds were the most sought after.

Surrounded by 100 miles of countryside and historic towns, the Cotswolds is revealed as the most popular beauty spot for home hunters.

With homes embraced by acres of farmland and national walking trails, the Cotswolds is an idyllic area for people ready to enjoy a rural life.

It’s followed by the Kent Downs, famous for its enchanting landscapes which are home to a diverse array of wildlife.

The third most popular beauty spot is the Chiltern Hills, a large scenic area that extends across 660 square miles.

In Wales, people are seeking rural life in its glorious Gower coast and the Wye Valley, which covers the border from Monmouthshire to Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.

Perfect for surfers and those who love being by the sea, over 4.9 million (4,915,398) people have been on the hunt for homes in the Gower, and 1,802,694 in the Wye this year alone.

Properties in each area will cost on average £314,279 and £341,174 respectively.

Out of the top 10 popular UK beauty spots for home hunters, just two are based in South Wales while eight are found in the South of England.

As much as a beautiful, remote and quiet place to live is appealing, living out of town isn’t for everyone.

Scotland’s Loch na Keal in the Isle of Mull is revealed as the least popular beauty spot.

While the Cotswolds was the most popular spot, it wasn’t the most expensive.

That title went down to Surrey Hills, with an average property price of £704,813.
