A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Newport Magistrates’ Court and Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court.

JOSHUA SEIVWRIGHT, 18, of Stow Hill, Newport, was locked up in a young offender institution for eight weeks after he admitted assaulting a police officer and a custody detention officer on January 26.

He was ordered to pay a £128 surcharge.

EDDIE DAVID MARTIN, 20, of Corporation Road, Newport, was ordered to pay £359 in fines, costs and a surcharge after he pleaded guilty to driving without insurance, driving without a licence and fraudulently using a registration mark, namely a Romanian style registration mark, in Caerphilly on February 28.

His driving record was endorsed with eight points.

HENRY WATKINS-HUGHES, 20, of St Lukes Road, Dukestown, Tredegar, was ordered to pay £344 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for failing to stop for a constable on Vale Terrace on February 27.

KAY SHINGLER, 50, of Glyndwr Street, Merthyr Vale, Merthyr Tydfil, was ordered to pay £1,185 in fines, costs and a surcharge after she admitted failing to stop after an accident whereby injury was caused to another person and driving without due care and attention on Mafon Road, Nelson, Caerphilly on March 30.

Her driving record was endorsed with seven points.

JOSHUA PALMER, 19, of Nant Y Rhose, Pontllanfraith, was ordered to pay £344 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without a licence on the A4049 in Fleur-de-Lys on March 5.

His driving record was endorsed with five points.

JADE NATASHA WORGAN, 30, of Church Street, Rhymney, Caerphilly, was conditionally discharged for 18 months after she pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer on May 29 and possession of cannabis on May 30.

She was ordered to pay £107 in costs and a surcharge.

MICHAEL GETTINGS, 33, of Fern Court, Bulwark, Chepstow, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on St Mary Street on March 5.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.

RIAZ AHMED, 64, of James Street, Newport, was banned from driving for 12 months after he failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence on March 4.

He was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

CARL MOUNTY, 39, of Pen-Y-Cae, Mornington Meadows, Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £232 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving while using a hand-held mobile telephone on June 3.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.
