A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Newport Magistrates’ Court.

BILLIE ASHWOOD, 38, of Woodside Road, Cwmbran, was ordered to pay £369 in a fine, compensation, costs and a surcharge after she pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker, paramedic Nathan Rees, on September 20.

CARL CHIPLIN, 42, of Penrhiw Terrace, Abercarn, was banned from driving for three years after he admitted failing to provide a specimen on July 23.

He was ordered to pay £1,018 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

SHANE CARL DREW, 23, of Newgate Street, Brecon, was ordered to pay £253.75 in fines and compensation after he pleaded guilty to the theft of five bottles of vodka worth £93.75 from Asda in Cwmbran on September 14.

ELIZABETH SARAH WHATLEY, 51, of Thirlmere Place, Newport, was banned from driving for six months after she failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

She was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

LISA MCDUFF, 34, of Westville, Abertysswg, Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £344 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving when she was using a hand-held mobile telephone on Wellington Way, Rhymney, on March 9.

Her driving record was endorsed with six points.

MALCOLM MOSES, 71, of High Street, Rhymney, Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £189 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on the A465 in Ebbw Vale on March 9.

PAUL STEVEN WILLIAMS, 44, of Greenways, Hilltop, Ebbw Vale, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

GERARD WALSH, 54, of Highbury Terrace, Monmouth, was ordered to pay £243 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on Chartist Rise, Rockfield, Monmouth, on March 10.

MATTHEW JAMES SKINNER, 34, of Linton Court, Abersychan, Pontypool, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on Penylan Road, Garndiffaith, on March 9.
