ONE of Wales’ eight new deaths related to Covid-19 has been recorded in the Gwent region.

It brings the total for the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to 1,022. The eight in Wales brings the region’s total to 5,973 according to Public Health Wales’ latest statistics.

Of the 4,469 recorded new cases in Wales, 890 are in Gwent.

Caerphilly continues to record the highest number of new cases in Gwent with 283. Torfaen recorded 212, Newport 202, 122 in Monmouthshire and Blaenau Gwent recorded 71 – the lowest out of the local authority areas in Wales.
