POLICE are looking for witnesses after a woman was assaulted on a train in South Wales.

The woman was travelling on the train between Pontyclun and Llanharan on Saturday, September 11.

British Transport Police (BTP) said that the woman boarded the Maesteg service train with another woman at Cardiff Central at around 9.15pm.

The pair were sat at a table seat when three young men and a young woman boarded the train at Pontyclun and sat across from them on another table seat.

The victims reported an object being thrown at them, hitting one of the women on the nose. She got up to confront the group and said the young woman in the group of four became aggressive.

BTP said that there was an altercation which resulted in the victim regaining consciousness at Llanharan with a black eye and bloody face.

All of those involved left the train at Llanharan where they separated.

The young woman in question is white with curly hair and of slim build, she was wearing dark clothing. One of the males was described as white with short, light brown hair. He had a black eye at the time and a sling on one arm. He was also wearing dark clothing.
