THE limit for contactless payment on Newport Bus services will be raised soon.

From Sunday, October 17, the limit for contactless payment on board their buses will be raised to £100, benefitting Passport and Passport Plus cardholders.

The current fare for a four-weekly Adult Passport to travel in Zone 1 is £50 and a four-weekly Adult Passport Plus in Zone 2 is £60.

Raising the contactless limit from £45 to £100 will give the users of the Passport cards the freedom to top up with a four-weekly ticket using contactless payment methods onboard Newport buses and will eliminate the need for them to carry out these transactions at the Newport Bus office.

Zone 1 includes:

  • Newport City
  • Parc Seymour
  • Ponthir
  • Rogerstone
  • Rhiwderin
  • Up to St Mellons Garden Centre

Zone 2 includes Cardiff, Risca and Cwmbran.

Morgan Stevens, Newport Transport director of delivery, said: "We are delighted with this development as it really helps to make sure that all our customers have easy access to one of our cheapest fares."
