Oxford MP Layla Moran has said the 'wider community is not at risk’ after a man was murdered in Botley yesterday evening.

Thames Valley Police have launched an official investigation - a man, aged 33, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, the Lib Dem MP for Oxford West and Abingdon said:“I spoke to Thames Valley Police earlier today about this tragic incident.

"I have been reassured by them that there is no wider risk to the public.

"My thoughts go out to the family and friends of the man who has sadly died.

"I will continue to liaise with the police on this matter, and they should now be left to conduct their investigation.

"Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance Service were contacted for a comment this morning."
