A PERSON who suffered a “medical episode” at a McDonald’s restaurant in Newport has been taken to hospital.
The incident happened at McDonalds in Harlech Retail Park on Cardiff Road just before 1pm this afternoon, with emergency services at the scene.
An air ambulance was dispatched, along with two ambulances, a rapid response car, and Welsh Ambulance’s emergency medical retrieval and transfer service.
Gwent Police were on hand to assist the ambulance service, with a spokeswoman for the force confirming that this was due to a “medical episode”.
The person was treated on scene, before being taken to a Cardiff hospital for further care.
A spokesman for Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We attended reports of a medical emergency at a fast food restaurant on the Harlech Retail Park, Newport at 12.56pm today.
“We sent one rapid response car, two emergency ambulances, the Wales Air Ambulance and our Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service.
“One patient was treated on scene and taken by road to University Hospital Wales, Cardiff for further care."
