OWNERS of a Chepstow art gallery had been concerned that they would have to work extremely hard to locate artworks.

In fact the opposite was the case for 7Q Gallery - with organisers having to turn artists away.

The latest exhibition features seven local artists.

“We have joked about changing the name to 7Queue Gallery,” said gallery organiser Alan Stanley.

Some of the names will be recognisable such as Keith Rowlands, a Chepstow educationalist who has a couple of landscapes in the show.

Pauline Price, another former local teacher, offers an array of style and an appreciation for colour.

Victoria Jane’s nudes, the gallery say, have an inner humour that stands the genre on its head.

Missy E offers a feast of contemporary images, Alex Pawson channels the symbolism of South America and Cora’s works cast a watchful eye over the gallery.

Helen Sjoberg offers intricate glass engravings, the stunning Blood Moon and pieces commemorating the Great War.

“7QGallery is open weekends," said Mr Stanley.

"Grab a takeaway coffee from Chepstow’s High Street and wander down for a peruse.

"At the very least you will get to shelter from the rain while you enjoy what Chepstow’s artists have to offer.”

Almost all proceeds from 7Q Gallery go to the artists with the remainder to running the gallery.

“We never pressure people to buy and want people to feel at ease in this non-stuffy gallery," Mr Stanley said.

"Equally, we are always delighted if you find a piece you love enough to want to take home.”

Artists participating: Victoria Jane, Keith Rowlands OBE, Missy E, Alex Pawson, Pauline Price and Helen Sjoberg

7Q Gallery also have the late Patricia Howell’s remaining works in the stock room.
