A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Newport Magistrates’ Court.

JAKE KNIGHT, 21, of Woodland View, Abercarn, was banned from driving for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to drug driving with a cannabis derivative in his blood on Albany Street, Newport, on May 28.

He was ordered to pay £419 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

KYLE SAUNDERS, 23, of Greenmeadow Way, Cwmbran, was ordered to pay £369 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he admitted that, for the purpose of procuring for himself or another the renewal of a shotgun certificate under the Firearms Act 1968, knowingly or recklessly made a statement which was false in a material particular in that he failed to declare a previous criminal conviction.

ROBERT JOHN HUGHES, 33, of John Street, Bargoed, was banned from driving for 12 months after he admitted being charge of a motor vehicle after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 101 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit on Park Drive on October 25.

He was ordered to pay £299 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

DENYS JOSEPH CRONIN, 34, of Cross Street, Abertridwr, Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance at Gallagher Retail Park on April 22.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.

TERESA FRANCIS, 50, of Derlwyn Street, Phillipstown, Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after she failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

KRIS HENSON, 36, of Chestnut Green, Upper Cwmbran, Cwmbran, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

NIKITA KARYUK, 29, of Cresswell Walk, St Dials, Cwmbran, was ordered to pay £424 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on Caerleon Road, Newport, on April 24.

HYWEL TREVOR MORGAN, 36, of Acorn Villas, Ebbw Vale, was ordered to pay £574 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without due care and attention in Raglan on April 21.
