IT'S BEGINNING to look a lot like Christmas in Newport city centre...
With just 36 days to go until Christmas, preparations are well under way, with Newport’s pop-up shop offering a huge range of festive goods.
The Winter Wonderland shop is part of the Christmas countdown tradition with the store appearing in Newport every year over the past 22 years (excluding 2020, due to the Covid pandemic).
But, after some hard work by Santa's elves, the store has emerged on Newport's Commercial Street - near Westgate Hotel.
The shop is abundant in all things festive including:
- An array of Christmas cards
- Stockings and gift bags
- Decorations – including tinsel, baubles lights, wreaths, fake snow spray, ornaments, and more
- Festive clothes – including Christmas jumpers for adults and children, and headwear
- Gift wrap, sellotape, ribbons, tags
The shop opened its doors on Wednesday, November 17, with more products - including artificial Christmas trees - coming soon.
Gavin Oates, who runs the shop, said: “We keep it traditional with our decorations and anything Christmas-based, including our 50p Christmas cards.
“We go with what people will want, for example offering some battery-powered goods so there’s no wires everywhere.
“The shop couldn’t open last year, but we’re back with more coming in soon.”
Winter Wonderland Christmas shop will be open every day (excluding Sunday, November 21) until Christmas Eve, with cash and card accepted.
The shop will be open between 9.30am and 5pm Monday to Saturday, and between 10am and 4pm on Sundays.
