REAL Christmas trees will not be collected for recycling by Vale of Glamorgan Council this year.

The council has reported they are currently facing staff shortages, meaning they cannot collect real Christmas trees for recycling this year.

People are faced with the following three alternatives:

  • Take their Christmas tree to Barry or Llandow Home Waste Recycling Centre, with no appointment needed;
  • Take their Christmas tree to a drop-off station in the Vlae of Glamorgan between January 17 and January 29;
  • If unable to take their Christmas tree to be recycled people can place them outside on black bag day before 7am, but they will not be recycled. The council asks that those doing this remove soil and decorations and cut trees taller than six foot.
