A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Newport Magistrates’ Court.

STEPHEN DAVID GRIFFITHS, 30, of Bryngwyn Road, Newbridge, was jailed for 30 weeks after he pleaded guilty to stalking, assault by beating, criminal damage and taking a vehicle without consent last month.

He was banned from driving for three months following his release from prison, made the subject of a restraining order for five years and ordered to pay £363 in compensation, costs and a surcharge.

STUART JOHN HUMPHREYS, 40, of High Street, Cross Keys, was banned from driving for 18 months after he pleaded guilty to drug driving with amphetamine and a cannabis derivative in his blood on the A472 in Newbridge last Boxing Day.

He was ordered to pay £319 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

FATHAL MOSHEN, 34, of Fairoak Avenue, Newport, was jailed for 18 days after he pleaded guilty to resisting a constable in the execution of her duty on May 17.

He was ordered to pay £213 in costs and a surcharge.

THOMAS EVAN JARVIS, 25, of Hafod Road, Ponthir, Cwmbran, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.

DAVID MCVEIGH, 44, of Clos Ennig, Bettws, Newport, was ordered to pay £199 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he pleaded guilty to stealing clothes worth £50 from JD Sports at Friars Walks Shopping Centre on January 18.

GAVIN DAVID EDWARDS, 38, of Patti Close, Newport, was ordered to pay £773 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he admitted assault by beating in Pontywaun, Caerphilly, on April 26.

LOUIS FERNEYHOUGH, 36, of Clifton Road, Abergavenny, was sentenced to an alcohol abstinence requirement and made the subject of a 10-day rehabilitation activity requirement after he pleaded guilty to public disorder in Grosmont on March 3.

He was ordered to pay £180 in costs and a surcharge.

KAREN HELLYAR, 50, of Hengoed Avenue, Cefn Hengoed, Caerphilly, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on Lewis Street, Ystrad Mynach, on February 6.

Her driving record was endorsed with six points.
