A NEWPORT food venue is a finalist in The Welsh Asian Food Awards 2022.

Valentines Grill and Bakery, on Chepstow Road in Newport, is a finalist for ‘best Turkish takeaway of the year’ at The Welsh Asian Food Awards 2022.

South Wales Argus:

The halal business – which is based in the Maindee area of the city – has an area for dining along with options to order food for collection, or delivery from 4pm.

It offers a variety of food including:

  • Borek and pide (Turkish pizzas);
  • Kebabs and wraps;
  • Turkish paninis;
  • Hot and cold starters;
  • Homemade burgers and more.

Director of Valentine’s Newport, Metin Dogru, said:

“They have worked so hard to provide quality Turkish cuisine to our community.

The food venue is among 10 finalists in the ‘Turkish takeaway’ category, and has been shortlisted along with:

  • Saray Restaurant in Cardiff;
  • Efes Kebab in Chepstow;
  • Turkish Kitchen Swansea;
  • Marmaris Risca;
  • Lezzet Turkish Kitchen – Cardiff;
  • Instanbul restaurant in Swansea;
  • Mira Restaurant in Cardiff;
  • The Mediterranean Restaurant in Llandudno;
  • Sen BBQ Cardiff.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Cardiff City Stadium – on Leckwith Road in Cardiff - on Monday, August 15.
