SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE: Panteg Women's Institute celebrated their 85th birthday, on Wednesday, February, 13.
President, Mrs Mary Farr, was pleased to welcome Gwent's county chairman, Mrs Daphne Bindon, and vice-county chairman, Mrs Sheila Hughes, to our celebration party.
It was also lovely to see all our seventeen members present at the event, too.
Members were welcomed with a drink (non-alcoholic) before sitting down to a three-course meal, which was prepared and served by Panteg's excellent committee.
Mrs Edith Venn said grace for us, Mrs Mavis Snaith did the loyal toast, and Mrs Phill Watts, our longest standing member, toasted Panteg.
Phill said how much the WI has meant to her, and urged all members to continue to keep Panteg Women's Institute a thriving one.
Cards of congratulations were received, also gifts, and the celebration cake was the icing' on the lovely event. Balloons, banners and table decorations all added to the party spirit.
County chairman Daphne Bindon said how much she had enjoyed her first visit to Panteg WI, and hoped she would be invited again.
Mrs Sheila Hughes, vice county chairman, also remarked on how much she too had enjoyed the evening.
Panteg WI meets every Wednes-day at 7pm, in the Panteg Public Hall. Why not come along?
