THERE is no doubt that tutor Eunice Taylor, who tragically died from cancer at the age of 53, was a true inspiration.

Ms Taylor, of Pill, Newport, earned national praise for her work helping people from disadvantaged communities back into education.

She helped dozens of people gain qualifications and then get jobs as a result of understanding, patience and skills.

Two years ago she was awarded the Adult Tutor of the Year title in a national scheme run the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education.

She was nominated for the award by one of her students, Farzana Khanom, who said Ms Taylor had inspired her to return to learning after a difficult period in her life.

And judging by the tributes left for Ms Taylor on our website it seems she touched many other lives.

She had the "patience of a saint", according to one reader who goes on to say she was a "great teacher".

There are many people who inspire others to learn and better themselves and all are worthy of recognition.

But it seems Ms Taylor had a little something else - a human touch that helped form a great bond with so many.

Our thoughts are with her family and we hope they take some comfort from the praise being heaped on her today.
