ANNASTARZZIA Dickenson is in London today with a special present for a resident of Downing Street - and it's not Gordon Brown.

The Monmouth comprehensive school pupil, who has lived with cancer for more than a year, is seeking out Sybil, the street's cat, to present her with a new collar.

But this is no ordinary collar. This one is made primarily of silver and pearls, the handiwork of Annastarzzia's mum Lisa Anne, who designed it with her 15-year-old daughter.

Today's trip involves a group of young cancer and leukaemia patients from south east Wales, the latest of many organised by Gwent businessman and charity stalwart Tony Curtis.

On their packed itinerary the children are set to present Mr Brown with daffodils to mark the impending St David's Day.

"I went to Downing Street in December and met Sybil, Gordon Brown and Maggie Darling (wife of Chancellor of the Exchequer Alastair Darling)," said Anastarzzia, who lives near Monmouth.

"I don't think Sybil had a collar on at the time and when I got back I thought of designing a silver collar for her. It's great to be going back so soon."

Annastarzzia was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a cancer affecting the lymph nodes, in January 2007.

Despite chemotherapy it returned last August and she had to undergo a combination of radio and chemotherapy.

Despite this, she aims to sit 12 GCSEs in the summer and has lawyer, accountant and fashion designer among potential career choices.
