TWO Blaenau Gwent schools are trying out a new scheme to make school entrances safer for children crossing the road.
Ystruth School and Cwm School are putting special green cones outside the school gates to make the crossing more visible.
Head teacher at Ystruth Primary school, Jan Miles said: "It certainly helps to reinforce safety.
"School entrances can be dangerous places and by putting the cones out it emphasises that no parking is allowed in that area and it makes everyone more aware of the health and safety of the children.
"We've had problems there in the past with people parking there in the past."
