DR Bill Maxwell, head of Wales' education watchdog Estyn, was unveiling his first annual report in Newport today.
The chief inspector of schools and colleges, who recently took over from Susan Lewis, was due to reveal the findings for 2006/07 at St Joseph's RC High School.
Dr Maxwell's in-depth report will deal with all levels from primary schools to further education and is likely to address areas of concern as well as highlighting any positive features.
This afternoon, Assembly education minister Jane Hutt will give details of the schools effectiveness strategy which aims to improve standards in schools.
