A SCHEME to help jobless Newport residents get work is being launched in the city tomorrow.
The community-based Futures Project is designed to link local employers to jobseekers.
It will give people who are seeking work access to employers, opportunities for training and the chance to learn new skills.
Help and support with basic skills will also be given along with practical advice on issues such as childcare.
Today's launch event at the Newport Centre was also aimed at giving more information to organisations about the city's support strategies to help workless residents back into the employment market.
The Futures Project is a partnership between Newport City Council, Jobcentre Plus, A4E and DASH Training.
Council leader Bob Bright said regeneration would provide a significant number of employment opportunities and projects such as this would complement the success of other schemes such as the Construction Initiative.
"These will ensure that the council is not only delivering the city's largest ever regeneration programme but working to ensure that Newport people can take advantage of the many opportunities that will arise."
