ARGUS reporter Chris Wood will be travelling to Hungary thanks to an award from a travel bursary.
Mr Wood, 29, from Machen, will be following the progress of rugby kit donated by teams in Gwent to struggling teams in eastern Europe, and he will see how the game is developing in the former eastern bloc country.
Mr Wood has been with the Argus for six months and is based in our Abergavenny office.
The £1,500 award, which is given annually to trainee journalists at the Argus and associated sister weekly papers in South Wales, was given to Mr Wood in memory of journalist Nick Lewis by Mr Lewis' mother Peggy and trustee Nigel Gabriel.
Former Newport man Mr Lewis was a journalist at the South Wales Argus and the BBC, and was the Chief Sub-editor of Wales on Sunday when he died in 1999 from cancer.
