A BURGLAR who broke into a home as the residents slept, stole their car keys and drove off in their car was sent to a young offenders institute for 18 months.
Duncan Morgan, 18, of Windsor Avenue, Newbridge, burgled a house on Windsor Road, Newport, on September 30.
He broke in, took the car keys and drove off in the family's car.
Morgan pleaded guilty and was this week sent to a young offenders institution for 15 months.
He also received a consecutive three month sentence for a charge of handling stolen goods.
