A PENSIONER is facing 30 sex abuse charges against ten alleged victims.
Glyndwr Jones, 71, of Castle Court, Pontywaun, Cross Keys, is accused of thirty charges including gross indecency, indecent assault and serious sex offences.
The allegations involve eight girls and two boys and span 20 years.
Newport crown court has decided that Jones is unfit to plead, but in unusual proceedings a jury will hear the evidence from the ten alleged victims, and the police.
It will then decide whether the case is proved against him.
Prosecutor John Holmes said: "This is all quite different to a normal trial."
Two of the girls, he said were abused over a number of years.
He said Jones would expose himself to them, kiss them and sometimes carry out indecent acts and occasionally the three would be together.
In return, said Mr Holmes, Jones would pay them small sums of money.
When arrested and interviewed by the police, Jones denied everything.
All the girls and the boys positively identified Jones as being involved, Mr Holmes said.
