RESIDENTS of a Cwmbran road say anti-social behaviour is so bad there that they need a dispersal order to move teenagers on.

Janet Carey, 51, of Five Locks Road says she is so worried about the behaviour of youths at night that she has become glued to her CCTV camera.

Meanwhile a neighbour says he has witnessed a van delivering booze to underage drinkers on the road.

Mrs Carey had a camera installed after yobs smashed a window in early February.

She said: "They often shout and scream in front of it, thinking they are on TV."

The youngsters continue to make noise in the evenings, she says, banging on garage doors and causing a racket.

"When I come home from work I should be relaxing, but I'm so wound up by them that I sit and watch the CCTV instead.

"I just want them to stay away."

Neighbour Tony Davies, 50, said in one incident he had found a youth sitting on the back of one of his family's cars, and in another saw a van drive up to deliver alcohol.

"At the moment I tend to go out the back of my home several times a night just to check," he said.

"You shouldn't have to do that."

Both said they would like a dispersal order to be put in place in the area, and they said other residents have experienced problems.

A police spokeswoman said a dispersal notice would need consultation with the council, but would only be put in place following outcome of other initiatives.

She said police had been carrying out extra patrols and liaising with residents.

She added: "We have identified 25 youngsters behaving in an anti-social manner in the area and we have sent letters to their parents."
