Chepstow has been recognised as a Fair Trade town for a year now. The award was presented to the Mayor on behalf of the town in the Rainbow Café on February 20, 2007.
In the town you can now buy Fairtrade refreshments, coffee, bananas, wine and clothing. Local businesses have also committed to supporting Fairtrade by purchasing products such as tea, coffee and chocolate.
Monmouthshire has just put in an application to be recognised as a Fair Trade county and Wales has made a bid to become the first Fair Trade country.
"Change Today" is the theme for Fairtrade Fortnight which started on 25th February. There will be a Fairtrade stall in White Lion Square on March 1, and goods on sale at Chepstow Methodist Church on March 8. There will also be Fairtrade stalls in Somerfield and Tesco.
If you'd like to get involved with Fairtrade you can contact Tanya White at The Rainbow Café and Bookshop on 01291 628795.
