PUPILS from Deri View Primary School demonstrated their knowledge of science, and their understanding of IT when they put on an impressive PowerPoint presentation for parents.

The nine children have been working with member of staff Kim Craik in a special science session in the library on an internet-based project.

Ms Craik, a former research scientist at Liverpool University, has been working in Abergavenny schools for five years. She said: "These enthusiastic young scientists have enjoyed directing and researching subjects chosen by themselves while boosting their skills in not only science, but also maths, literacy and IT."

She said as a result of this pilot many more pupils will be joining her on the next project.
