IF YOU wander lonely as a cloud in Abergavenny, be prepared to see a host of golden daffodils adorning one of the town's houses.

Householder John Jenkins, 66, has chosen to celebrate St David's Day on Saturday and raise money for charity by covering his house with between 8,000 and 9,000 of daffodils.

The flowers come courtesy of Marie Curie Cancer Care and Mr Jenkins has a pipe outside his house which leads to a bucket so people can donate money for the cancer charity.

Mr Jenkins, of Merthyr Road, has been decorating his house like this for the past five years and in that time he estimates to have raised more than £500 for Marie Curie, as well as money for groups such as the Scouts and Guides.

Mr Jenkins, a retired decorator, said it took him just a few days to transform his home.

He also decorates his house for Christmas and has summer themes.

"People ask me what my next scene is. I do it because it gives me something to do and it keeps them all smiling," he said.
