A NEW artwork reflecting the seasons can be seen in the Friary Garden in Newport's Belle Vue Park in Newport.
Artist Sebastian Brooke, together with pupils from Pill Primary, St Woolos Primary and Gaer Junior, watched the unveiling of his sculpture inspired by climate change, the Gardener's Calendar.
Made in sandstone, it has a central sun surrounded by 12 relief carvings depicting the months of the year as seen through the eyes of a gardener.
The sculpture was developed in support of the city's Newport in Bloom campaign.
It follows many years of improvement work within the park.
Thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the council has restored the park's rich architectural history, while updating it for the 21st century visitor.
Councillor Ron Jones, cabinet member for culture and recreation said the sculpture added significant character to the park and would increase the enjoyment of the Friary Garden.
The artwork was funded through the Community Grant Scheme and the council's countryside service.
