BORN yesterday? As a leap-year baby you could be giving your parents a mighty dilemma.
Children born on February 29 have left their parents facing a conundrum on what day to celebrate their child's birth.
Nicola Jones, 26, gave birth at 12:04 am at the Royal Gwent Hospital, officially making newborn Jasmine the first leap-year baby in Gwent.
"I haven't decided what day to celebrate her birthday yet. St David's Day might be nice," she said.
Mrs Jones, from Pontllanfraith, works as a nurse at Caerphilly District Miner's Hospital.
Husband Paul is a porter at the Royal Gwent and Jasmine, weighing 7.2lbs, is the couple's first-born.
Mrs Jones said: "I'm so happy and Paul is over the moon.
"I was in labour for about three days, it was so much harder than I thought."
Proud grandfather Brian Davies, 72, joked: "It could work out cheaper for me, only buying presents once every four years."
Further along the ward at 2:30 am, Risca beautician Lisa Evans gave birth to a baby girl named Rhianna.
"I just can't decide when we're going to have her birthday, I can't choose just yet," she said.
