There have been road works on the road running through Crossway from Norton to the turning for Cross Ash for the past two weeks. There have been road closures and as a result it has been difficult at times to get into the lane where I live. The dustbin lorry has managed to get down the lane to collect our rubbish but the Monday recycling lorry did not. Our stretch of roadwork should have finished last Friday. I phoned the Highways Department to see if they could possibly arrange to fill in a few of the large pot holes in our lane (between Crossway and the Bell at Skenfrith).
I have had no reply. Perhaps the worst thing of all was the lack of post or mail. For two days if not more the post van just could not get through the road works. That is when you realise how lucky we are to have a regular and usually reliable postal service.
