A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Newport Magistrates' Court.

ALEX HATHWAY, 28, of Tone Close, Bettws, Newport was sentenced to a 12-month community order after he pleaded guilty to drug driving on the A48 with a cannabis derivative in his blood on May 19.

He must complete 180 hours of unpaid work, complete a 10-day rehabilitation activity requirement, was banned from driving for 42 months and must pay a £114 surcharge and £85 costs.

DOMINIC DRINKWATER, 19, of Llanarth Square, Pontymister, Risca was banned from driving for 12 months after he admitted drug driving with a cannabis derivative in his blood on Duffryn Road, Brynawel, Wattsville on June 30.

He was fined £120 and must pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.

MOLLY COLE, 18, of Lower Bailey Street, Brynmawr was fined £160 after she admitted failing to comply with a community protection notice on October 1 and October 14.

SHANE KALTER, 30, of Seymour Rise, Parc Seymour, Newport was banned from driving for 16 months after he pleaded guilty to drug driving with a cannabis derivative in his blood on Heather Road on May 26.

He was fined £403 and must pay £85 costs.

SHAHZAD TAHIR, 42, of no fixed abode, Newport was jailed for 36 weeks after he pleaded guilty to three counts of breaching a restraining order between July 22 and July 30.

He must pay £85 costs.

KAREN HITCHENS, 65, of Commercial Street, Griffithstown, Pontypool was conditionally discharged for six months after she admitted assault by beating on July 19.

She must pay £85 costs and a £26 surcharge.

ALLAN EVANS, 50, of Caradoc Street, Abersychan, Pontypool was fined £416 after he pleaded guilty to drink driving with 37 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on the A472 banned and obstructing a constable in the execution of her duty on September 28 and September 29.

He was banned from driving for 12 months and must pay a £166 surcharge and £85 costs.

TERRANCE DUNN, 76, of Risca Road, Cross Keys was banned from driving for 12 months after he admitted drink driving with 49 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on High Street on September 28.

He was fined £300 and must pay a £120 surcharge and £85 costs.

HENRY JESUS, 40, of Clarke Road, Newport was banned from driving for 20 months after he pleaded guilty to drink driving with 80 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on Orb Drive on September 29.

He was fined £384 and must pay a £154 surcharge and £85 costs.

EMMA JONES, 49, of Lansdowne Road, Caerleon, Newport was banned from driving for 12 months after she pleaded guilty to drink driving with 53 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on September 30.

She was fined £120 and must pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.

LEWIS BAILEY, 29, of no fixed abode, Newport was fined £120 after he admitted possession of crack cocaine on October 10.

He must pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.

LEE DAVIES, 36, of Nelson Drive, Newport was conditionally discharged for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to a public order offence on October 15.

He must pay £85 costs and a £26 surcharge.
