THE decision to approve the application for a new Lidl in Belmont Road is ridiculous (Decision on new Lidl supermarket at Hereford hotel site confirmed, March 13).

Why put Lidl neighbouring another supermarket like Tesco, which has good offers and prices?

It makes no sense.

Put Lidl in the north-west, where loads of new houses are being built and definitely will need a nearby supermarket rather than flood the A49 to head south for shopping.

Take a look at the traffic chaos after a crash on March 15. At around 5.45pm nothing was moving, and it took me 50 minutes to get to work from Roman Road to Rotherwas. But the authorities keep saying we don’t have traffic issues. We definitely need a bypass now.
