The court heard from prosecutor Lauren Millichip that the 40-year-old, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor Matthew Lewis, had stolen food items worth a total of £50 from a Tesco supermarket in Hereford on February 3.
She had also attempted to steal items of clothing worth £109 from Hereford's Sainsbury's supermarket on January 31, magistrates were told.
Burchill, of Meadow Close, Hereford, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge, with magistrates saying that they had taken her guilty pleas to the charges into account when coming to their decision.
She was also ordered to pay compensation of £50 to Tesco, prosecution costs of £85, and a £26 victim surcharge.
