IT could be a big weekend for Wrexham and star striker Paul Mullin is already celebrating after winning the EFL Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month award for March.

The 29-year-old produced a serious of excellent performances and scored seven goals in six appearances which helped him beat James Belshaw, Alex Gilbey and Klaidi Lolos to the award.

There was a hat-trick in the opening game of March as Phil Parkinson's men defeated Accrington Stanley 4-0 and Mullin then netted in back-to-back away games, helping the Reds triumph 3-1 against both Morecambe and Grimsby Town.

Wrexham's leading scorer ended the month with a brace in the top of the table 2-0 victory over Mansfield Town.

That took Mullin, who joined Wrexham from Cambridge United in the summer of 2021, up to 99 goals in total for the club and he's picked up where he left off in April, reaching his century in last Saturday's 2-1 win at Colchester.

In typical Mullin fashion, he was again on target when he bagged a double in Tuesday's 4-1 success over Crawley Town which took second placed Wrexham closer to automatic promotion, something the Reds can achieve tomorrow if they pick up three points against basement side Forest Green Rovers at The Racecourse and MK Dons and Barrow fail to win against Mansfield and Gillingham respectively.

Mullin, who has 23 goals this season in the quest for a second successive promotion with Wrexham, told the official club website: “I’m really pleased because it was a successful month where we won a lot of games, but from a personal point of view it’s brilliant.

“The goals I scored helped me hit a personal accolade which was really pleasing and importantly we got up the table at a crucial point in the season.”

Parkinson added: “We’re really pleased for Mulls winning the EFL Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month Award, it’s well deserved.”
