A BUTCHER shop in Gwent is celebrating its 80th birthday with a party buffet for those that attend the celebration.

Matthews Family Butchers, located on Newport Road in Cwmcarn, celebrates 80 years in the business on Saturday, May 25, having opened in 1944.

Part owner of the butchers, Stephanie Matthews, hopes to have a great turnout as she claims "we might not see the location when it gets to 100 years".

"We've had to really diversify to be where we are today," said Ms Matthews.
