A POLICE hunt has been launched after a man absconded from an open prison.
The Gwent force have urged people not to approach Declan Jones who failed to return to HMP Prescoed in Monmouthshire on Friday, December 20.
The 22-year-old was jailed at Cardiff Crown Court in May after being convicted of conspiracy to supply cocaine.
Jones is described as being around 5ft 7in tall, of small build with dark hair, green eyes and is clean shaven.
He has links to the Brynmawr, Nantyglo and Ebbw Vale areas.
A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “We have activated our operational plan with the aim of locating the individual and the prison are co-operating with us.
“We are asking the public not to approach him and to call us on 101 quoting reference 2400420374 if you have any information.
