A Monmouthshire care home was visited by Cadbury's as part of the chocolatier's 200th anniversary.

The residents at Gibraltar Nursing Home were part of the celebrations.

Gibraltar Nursing Home was one of seven care homes chosen to take part in the festivities, which highlighted the brand's heritage and the nostalgia it evokes.

Cadbury's, which was established in 1824, organised activities for the residents, including a quiz and themed word searches.

These activities, known to help those living with dementia by stimulating both sides of the brain, also served a therapeutic purpose.

The residents, fondly referred to as 'family members', were rewarded with prizes in the brand's iconic purple, including pens, blankets, and lots of chocolate.

Gibraltar Nursing Home operations manager, Tracy Grant, who orchestrated the visit, said: "The engagement from our family members was wonderful to see.

"They loved the retro-wrapped Cadbury’s chocolate, which sparked memories and conversations, and enjoyed taking part in the quiz."

Gibraltar Nursing Home, based in Monmouth, Wales, is focused on recognising the values, beliefs, and identity of each resident.

The team at the home believes in understanding each person's unique life history and journey, creating a space where everyone feels safe and never alone.

The care home is renowned for its person-centred approach, which extends to all activities, including the recent Cadbury's celebration.

The aim is always to create a sense of belonging and togetherness.

The Cadbury's visit is an example of how the care home ensures that residents remain connected to the world outside, celebrating significant events and creating memories that spark joy and conversation.

When Cadbury's was initially founded in 1924, the company was selling drinking chocolate but over time, began expanding to selling chocolate and becoming the company it is today.
