A MAN has been caught with child sex abuse images and animal pornography.

Alex Thomas, 28, from Caldicot is to be sentenced next month and ordered to register as a sex offender.

The defendant admitted making four category A indecent images of a child, making one category C indecent image of a child and possession of an extreme pornographic image involving a human and a dog.

His offences were committed between November 11, 2023 and August 16, 2024, Kevin Withey, prosecuting told Newport Magistrates' Court.

District Judge Sophie Toms told Thomas, of Castle Lea, that she was adjourning the case for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

She warned him that “all options open” would be open, including prison.

The defendant, who was granted unconditional bail, is due to be sentenced on June 5.

He was represented by James Campbell.
