Search the Public Notice PortalA STORAGE unit for mobility scooters has been given the go-ahead after a housing association feared they posed a fire risk.
The lockable streel frame shelter will have space for up to six mobility scooters and will be equipped with charging points, rather than the small vehicles being charged in flats at the Old Hereford Road Residential Housing block in Abergavenny.
Monmouthshire Housing Association stated in its planning application: “Mobility scooters are posing a fire risk being stored and charged in flats at present.”
A small tree, at the centre of the site, some 10 to 12 metres away from the proposed shelter won’t be impacted by the development said Monmouthshire County Council planning officer Kate Bingham in her report, which approved the application.
She said the loss of some 18 square metres of grassland to make way for the storage shelter would be offset by placing a bird box on its eaves.
