A £2 cap on bus journeys could soon be rolled out under new transport plans.
Welsh Labour has pledged to introduce the cap across Wales as part of its campaign for the 2026 Senedd elections.
The cap would apply to all single bus fares for passengers aged 22 to 59 starting April 2027, if they lead the next Welsh Government.
Ken Skates, cabinet secretary for transport and north Wales, said: "From now on in Wales, buses will be run for people, not just for profit.
"These changes are about making our transport system fairer.
"Cheaper journeys, more routes to the places where passengers want them to go, a bus service that serves those that use it.
"We want to unlock opportunity by connecting people to their jobs, their hospitals, their town centres, their libraries.
"And Welsh Labour will take action to do that."
Passengers under 21 already benefit from £1 single fares, while over-60s are entitled to free bus travel.
The party has also promised to introduce 100 new routes across Wales between 2027 and 2030, focusing on links to employment hubs and essential public services like hospitals and train stations.
The public will have the opportunity to suggest where these routes should be implemented.
Mr Skates launched the proposals during a visit to Wrexham bus interchange alongside Welsh Labour candidates and supporters.
He said: "Through our landmark Bus Services Bill, we are ending the era of fragmented services forced on Wales by the Tories de-regulating the bus network.
"Welsh Labour wants you to be better off, and Welsh Labour are delivering."
The Bus Services Bill will return the bus network to public ownership.
This, the party argues, will give communities greater influence over the services they rely on.
Welsh Labour describes the strategy as part of its broader commitment to improving public transport by making it more affordable and accessible.
