A fish and chip shop has earned praise for its customer service, portion sizes, and consistently good food.

The Horseshoe Fish Bar in Pontnewynydd, Pontypool, has been described by customers as the "best chip shop in Pontypool," with many leaving glowing reviews about their experiences.

One couple said: "Absolutely the best chip shop in Pontypool.

"Won't go anywhere else. Ordering online is simple and delivery is spot on. Always arrives piping hot."

Others have commended the shop for its attention to customer requests.

One customer said: "Any requests are catered for where possible.

"I asked for crispy bits in with the chips and was pleasantly surprised when I indeed got crispy bits in with the chips.

"So thank you Horseshoe."

Fish and chips are regularly singled out for praise, with many describing them as delicious and perfectly cooked.

One customer who ordered two portions with gravy said they were "all piping hot when I got it home and absolutely delicious"

Another customer said: "This is a traditional British Fish and Chip take away shop, very friendly staff, great food freshly cooked, I go there regularly and have never had to complain or return anything."

Staff have also been praised for their professionalism and good humour, especially during busy periods.

One reviewer said: "all of the staff got on with their jobs and I was chatting with Ray who was making light of things when you could clearly see he was trying to serve people quickly and professionally.

"All round great take away."

The value for money has not gone unnoticed.

One customer said: "This converted public house is only about a mile away from me which is great because it is better than a well-known restaurant/takeaway that I used to use in Cwmbran when I fancied fish and chips.

"With fish and chips you need to know what you are doing. Good oil, right temperature and correct timing. It sounds simple but so many get it wrong

"They don't here and everything is cooked to order as it should be. Very generous portions."

Another said: "Best fish and chips I’ve had in years.

"Cod was outstanding."
