HERE’S a round-up of recent cases heard before magistrates.
Leighton Pearce, 36, of Jeans Close in Newport, was ordered to pay £1,044 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for using a vehicle without insurance.
At Newport Magistrates' Court on February 10, Pearce also had six points added to his licence.
Shane Pawlett, 59, of Belle Vue Close in Trevethin, Pontypool, pleaded guilty to using a vehicle without a valid MOT certificate.
He was fined £138 at Newport Magistrates' Court on February 10, and was ordered to pay £120 in costs and a £55 surcharge.
Ian Beddis, 44, of Cedar Road in Trinant, Caerphilly, was fined £440 for using a vehicle which had insufficient tread on its tyres.
Beddis had three points added to his licence at Newport Magistrates' Court on February 10, and was ordered to pay £120 in costs and a £176 surcharge.
Hasn Faslia, 44, of New Road in Nantyglo, has been fined £220 for keeping an untaxed vehicle.
Faslia was ordered to pay £86.25 in back duty and £85 in costs at Teesside Magistrates' Court on February 9.
Morgan Davies, 26, of Gurnos Estate in Brynmawr, kept a vehicle which did not meet insurance requirements.
Davies was fined £220 and was ordered to pay £100 in costs and an £88 surcharge on February 9 at Teesside Magistrates' Court.
Wyndham Bennett, 32, of Queens Square in Brynmawr, pleaded guilty to speeding in a 40mph limit.
Bennett was sentenced to pay a £147 fine, £120 in costs, and a £59 surcharge. Chelmsford Magistrates' Court also handed the defendant three penalty points on February 12.
Adrian Morgan, of Kings Fee in Monmouth, was fined £220 for keeping an untaxed vehicle.
At Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court on February 13, Morgan was sentenced to pay £85 in costs and £115 in back duty,
Amanda Parker, 55, of Mynydd View in Cwmfields, Pontypool, admitted speeding in a 20mph limit.
Parker was sentenced to pay a £61 fine, £120 in costs, and a £24 surcharge at Newport Magistrates' Court on February 10. She also had three points added to her licence.
Millie Bunten, of Grosmont, near Abergavenny, kept a vehicle which did not meet insurance requirements.
She was ordered to pay £408 in a fine, costs and a surcharge at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on February 12.
Jamie-Leigh Wilson, 36, of Forge Mews in Bassaleg, Newport, was fined £440 for using an untaxed vehicle.
Wilson must pay £89.17 in back duty, and was ordered by Birmingham Magistrates' Court on February 12 to pay costs of £85.
