Kitchen Kings: False Just Eat refunds threaten free deliveries

Kitchen Kings, based in Blackwood, has reported an “absolute flood” of dishonest refund requests made through the food delivery app Just Eat.

In a recent social media post, the business claimed it was losing money after being “forced to refund over £300 to customers who did receive their food,” with the team believing some people are falsely claiming non-delivery to receive free meals.

The owners, Tommie Webb and Will Davies, said: "We are humans, not robots.

"We can’t hit the exact second every single time – it just doesn’t work like that.

"Sometimes we’re early, sometimes we’re spot on, sometimes we’re a few minutes late.

"We can’t keep losing money like this."

The business warned that if the trend continues, it will have “no choice but to stop delivering completely.”

The post has sparked strong support in local Facebook groups, with many backing the young business and criticising those abusing the refund system.

One supporter said: "Takeaways can’t survive if people keep scamming free food."

Another pointed out that "delivery drivers are just trying to earn a living" and shouldn’t be penalised for minor delays.

Some called for the business to "name and shame" repeat offenders.

Despite recent challenges, Kitchen Kings has built a loyal following since it opened a year ago.

The business started serving from a burger van before moving to a permanent location on Blackwood High Street, opening its doors in March 2025.

Customers regularly praise its “unreal” food, particularly the smashed burgers and loaded fries.

On TikTok and Instagram, one creator scored it "10/10" and another said Kitchen Kings is "slowly taking over the takeaway game."

A number of customers also used the recent Facebook thread to share positive experiences, with one calling it "the best burgers around" and stating they had “never had a problem” with deliveries.

Kitchen Kings is run by childhood friends Tommie Webb and Will Davies and is now trading seven days a week having opened from humble beginnings last year.

The business made clear that its complaint is about customers abusing the refund process, and that it is not accusing Just Eat of any wrongdoing.
