A kebab takeaway has been praised for its standards after earning a high hygiene rating.

Red Chilli Kebab & Grill Bar in Corporation Road, Newport, was awarded a 5 out of 5 rating after its most recent inspection under the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.

The inspection took place on March, 19, 2026, with the score published online this month.

Red Chilli Kebab & Grill Bar serves a mix of kebabs, burgers, grilled dishes and other takeaway favourites to customers in the area.

Inspectors found that hygienic food handling was "Good," while the cleanliness and condition of facilities were rated "Very good."

The overall rating means the business is considered to have a good standard of compliance overall, with some scope for further improvement in paperwork and systems.

Owner Juned Ahmed has been promoting the business on social media to encourage support from the local community.

He has highlighted meal deals, online order discounts and reminders of the takeaway’s food hygiene score.

He has also shared his delight at the recent score, telling the Argus: "We are delighted to have secured a five star hygiene rating and want to continue to do good things for the community."

The venue has generally positive reviews online, with customers praising the quality of the kebabs, portion sizes and value for money.

One reviewer described the food as "fantastic" and said they would "definitely order again."

Others highlighted the wide range of menu options and the convenience of delivery.

The Food Standards Agency reminds the public that hygiene ratings reflect standards at the time of inspection, not the quality or taste of the food.

The rating indicates that the kebab house has a good level of compliance but could benefit from improvements in its record-keeping and food safety systems.

Located at 232 Corporation Road, the takeaway offers both collection and delivery, with orders available through its website and third-party platforms.

The menu features doner and shish kebabs, chicken dishes, burgers and a variety of sides.

It also caters to evening and late-night customers, particularly on weekends.

Red Chilli Kebab & Grill Bar has built an active online presence through Facebook and food ordering sites, sharing updates, promotions and links to its menu.

For many in Newport, the strong hygiene rating and positive reviews offer reassurance when choosing a late-night meal.
