Five streets in the South Wales Argus patch are celebrating £1,000 People’s Postcode Lottery wins this month – and players are being told they could share in a £20.2 million prize pot in May’s draws.
The latest windfalls have landed for neighbours in Pontnewydd, Cwmbran, Newport, Blaina and Chepstow after their postcodes came up in the lottery’s daily prize.
In The Leas in Pontnewydd, neighbours with a postcode of NP44 1JT got a prize of £1,000, while those in Chestnut Green in Upper Cwmbran are among those in line for a four‑figure boost after postcode NP44 5TJ was drawn for a £1,000 daily prize. Each ticket registered at that postcode will be worth £1,000, meaning households playing with more than one ticket receive a multiple of the pay-out.
It follows previous postcode lottery success in the town in recent years, with Cwmbran neighbours having celebrated similar £1,000 wins before.

Neighbours in Maerdy Close in Newport were among those in line for a financial win with a postcode of NP20 3BH securing £1,000 each, while people living in Vauxhall Road in Chepstow also secured a four-figure sum.
The last winners within the Argus patch for the last two months were residents in Alexandra Street in Blaina, Abertillery, securing £1,000 each in their win.
All five Argus‑area postcodes are part of People’s Postcode Lottery’s regular weekday “Daily Prize” schedule, which awards £1,000 per ticket to dozens of postcodes around Britain every day. As the May and June winners celebrate, the lottery has confirmed that players can win a share of £20.2 million in July's draws, provided they are signed up in time – offering the prospect of even more streets in Gwent and beyond joining the winners’ list next month.
